About the Role:
We are offering a one-year Avian & Exotics Specialty Internship designed to sharpen clinical skills, decision-making, and knowledge of routine, emergency, and referral cases in exotic pet medicine. You will:Assist specialists in the exotics department with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, procedures, anesthesia, and surgery.Assume primary case responsibility for emergency cases after hours on a rotating basis.Be involved in the teaching of visiting 4th-year externs.Participate in didactic lectures, case rounds, and grand rounds to further your expertise.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Excellence: Assist in and manage diverse exotic and avian cases from general medicine to emergencies.Emergency Care: Manage after-hour emergencies on a rotating schedule with two other specialty internsCollaboration: Work closely with a team of specialists, technicians, and support staff to deliver top-tier care.Teaching: Some hands on teaching of 4th-year externs through clinical rotations.Continuous Learning: Attend bi-weekly lectures and case rounds and participate in hospital-wide grand rounds quarterly.
Qualifications:Veterinary Degree (DVM or equivalent)Previous rotating internship preferred but not required.Strong desire to specialize in avian & exotic animal medicine.Excellent communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude.Ability to work in a fast-paced, fun environment with a strong sense of responsibility and adaptability.
