The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Engineer to join the F/A-18E/F and E/A-18G Mission Systems team in Berkeley, MO. This individual will be responsible for the integration of new and upgraded subsystems within the weapon system’s avionics suite enabling new and improved future capabilities in the Super Hornet and Growler fleet.

The engineer will apply the Integrated Product Development processes, Program Management Best Practices, and systems engineering practices to define and manage all aspects of system-level design and development of the EA-18G aircrew controls and displays for mission execution in the Crew Vehicle Interface (CVI). They will work within a multi-discipline team and unify these various skills to accomplish the stated mission.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Avionics Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

Work with internal stakeholders and external customers to coordinate execution of ongoing hardware-software integration efforts in a fast-paced Agile environment, often with changing requirements

Responsible for communication across teams as well as multiple engineering disciplines and program leadership

Receive customer requests and analyzes them with consideration for contractual and technical impacts and translates into actionable requirements

Monitor internal and external supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

Provide support and solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

Reinforce a culture of proactive technical oversight, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and an open dialogue on technical issue.

Support productivity improvements through the use of Lean principles as well as sharing best practices and lessons learned

Understand and work with F/A-18 and EA-18G functional counterparts (software and hardware teams, SEIT, BGS) to understand and ensure handoffs are clearly defined to the team to deliver products that meet requirements and are delivered on schedule and within cost

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

(Level 2) 2+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or a Master’s with work related experience

(Level 3) 5+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or 3+ years of work related experience with a Master’s or work related experience with a PhD

Strong oral and written communications skills

Experience in translating Customer requirements to System requirements or System requirements to Subsystem requirements

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Experience in developing or integrating Mission Systems for military aircraft

Experience with electronic system design, code and test

Experience in developing and executing test plans and test cases

Experience with an OMS implementation

Experience with Multi-Level Security (MLS) implementation

Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process

Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence

Completed security clearance background investigation within the past 5 years

Typical Education/Experience: 

(Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range (Level 2): $79,900 - $108,100

Summary pay range (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
