Avionics Technician I
**Avionics Technician I.** Remove, install, inspect, test, adjust or repair avionics equipment, e.g. radar, communications, navigation, and instruments of T-44/T54 aircraft in accordance with technical publications. **Accountability** + Perform all work-related actions as directed by management. + Follow instructions by work center shift lead, or above. + Ensure safety, security and preservation of government and company owned equipment. + Address/approach customer in courteous and professional manner. + Address/approach co-workers in a courteous and professional manner. + Maintain work center in a clean and orderly fashion. + Meet government and company license and/or qualification requirement(s). + Complete and comply with On-the-Job Training (OJT), Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste (HW), Tool Control Program (TCP) and Egress Familiarization, Program and all safety regulations by site, city, state and federal. + Troubleshoot, repair, and modify avionics, electrical and instrumentation systems. + Solve complex problems by utilizing technical manuals, publications, document(s) or drawings and schematics. + Utilize test equipment, e.g. multi-trace oscilloscope, frequency counters, multimeter and other avionics test equipment to perform troubleshooting and operational checks. + Perform removal, repair, installation, inspection, and operational check of system components. + Repair, replace or calibrate components based on test results utilizing blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents. + Initiate and complete maintenance action forms (MAF) in NALCOMIS/OOMA and log records. + Order parts and materials. + Qualify and operate aircraft ground servicing equipment (GSE) e.g. tractors, servicing carts, aircraft jacks and hoists, test equipment, hand tools, power tools. + Identify and treat avionics and electrical component corrosion. **Education and Experience** + High school diploma or GED, required. + Completion of U.S. Armed Forces aircraft avionics and/or aircraft electrician’s school. + FAA airframe and powerplant or FCC license, preferred. + Five (5) years of aircraft avionics and electrical related experience, required. + Experience with T-44/T54 aircraft, preferred. + In-depth knowledge of advanced electronic principles and circuit analysis. + Ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency counters, multi-meters, and other test equipment. + Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings and charts of assigned systems is required. + Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. + Must have basic computer data entry skills required for use of NASA’s maintenance and logistics database. + Must be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required qualification, certification, licensing, or security clearance. + Must be able to work any assigned shift or scheduled. + Must have a valid driver’s license. + Ability to obtain government security clearance. **Physical Requirements and Work Environment** + Lift up to fifty (50) pounds. + Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. + Climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, lift, carry, balance and reaching above shoulder level. + Push or pull weight up to seventy (70) pounds. + Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. + Color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, required. + Normal hearing, required. + Work environment of a standard shop and hangar to inclement weather and extreme heat. + Shift work. + Exposure to noise hazard. + May be exposed to electrical shock hazard. **Travel** + As required for periods up to, or past 90 days.
