AVP, Data and Analytics Analyst
The primary function of the Retail Information Analytics Manager will be responsible for the Information Management and Analytics for the Retail Division. This includes performance reporting in the areas of financial, sales, operational, and customer experience, and analytics to inform the development of strategic plans and performance improvement and efficiency plans. As a member of the Division management team, participates in budget planning and strategy development. Manages a team that is responsible for the administration of a number of Retail functions and programs supporting the Division and includes the development and management of various reporting of sales, operational, and performance measurement reports as well as all divisional communications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: � Responsible for the Information Management/Reporting and Analytics for the Retail Division including financial reporting, compliance and operational performance reporting, staffing model, major initiatives and ad hoc. o Develops methodologies for the analysis and performance measurement of various strategic areas of the business to include: Distribution, Delivery, Deposit Portfolio, Campaign Management, and Staffing Model. o Manages a staff of individuals to support the data and communication needs for the division. o Manages and/or engages in the creation, validation, analysis of, and dissemination of routine and ad hoc reports for Retail Banking. o Provides insight and advice on effective use of the bank�s systems to automate and standardize reporting procedures. o Prepares and delivers presentations regarding related divisional initiatives to large groups of individuals, often times divisional management, as well as to smaller groups that often include Executive Management. � Responsible for the daily management of the Retail Division�s incentive compensation plan to include elements of plan design, incentive calculation and payment, goal setting, risk assessments and the Sales Risk Management Program. o With a solid understanding of divisional profitability and strategic direction, prepares and delivers recommendations to senior management on overall plan design for Retail and develops the mechanisms to support the plans. o Directly manages the Retail Information Analyst, whose primary role is Incentive Plan administration and to prepare and distribute many of the Division�s routine sales, incentive, and staffing reports. o Oversees the Retail Sales Risk Management Program and recommends changes and adjustments to metrics and �red flag� indicators as appropriate. � Manages a portion of the Retail Division�s operating budget. o Stays abreast of industry trends and corporate strategies so that s/he may make appropriate decisions as to how they impact forecasted deposit balances, related service charge income streams, and numerous direct expense categories. o Responsible for key components of the Retail Division�s budget to include deposit balances and related service charge income streams. Attends budget strategy meetings, assists in budget entry, and ensures the final budget reconciles for the Division. o On an ongoing basis, maintains a full understanding of the Division�s position vs. budget across all categories and prepares variance explanations to senior management. � Regularly participates on project teams as Divisional management representative and routinely works with very little supervision or direction. This position is critical to the Retail Banking Division�s success in that senior management relies heavily upon the insights and information provided by the analyses developed and performed, and the recommendations submitted. Decisions made and supported will inform budget planning, goal setting, incentive plan design, effective sales risk management practices, deposit product and portfolio pricing and management. This individual will participate in strategic planning for the Division. Information is gathered for routine reporting, but also for specialized projects and to determine the bank�s pricing strategies on the various deposit products. Routine reporting represents such things as sales, financial, and staffing reports. Specialized projects might include reporting the results of the bank�s various Retail product promotions; data that is used to ultimately determine the level of success achieved by the overall product launch. In addition, the incumbent in this position has significant influence on the design of the Division�s incentive plan, Distribution Strategy, and in that s/he is responsible for building the infrastructure to capture pertinent data which is used to determine the level of compensation received by members of the sales force. This individual is free to make decisions with regard to several areas, but for example, the activities of the more junior analyst, the design of the divisional reporting infrastructure, the methods used to gather information, and whether or not sales credit will be granted in certain circumstances. Qualifications: Education and Experience:(Indicate the minimum formal education and experience the job requires. Note: The majority of jobs do not require a college degree as a minimum requirement.) � Bachelor�s Degree preferred and/or 4-6 years of Retail Banking experience. Skills/Knowledge: (Include licenses, registrations or special skills, such as typing, programming languages, etc., required to perform the job.) � Advanced knowledge of MS Access and Excel. � Demonstrable experience with application of analysis and critical thinking. � Experience with, and proficiency in bank�s core and supporting systems preferred. � Incumbent should be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage large projects, and be self-motivated. Sound decision-making abilities, technical proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills are a must. Some management experience is also preferred as this position leads a small team.
