**Job Summary and Qualifications**
**Job Summary:**
The AVP, Agile Practices provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organization's agile transformation journey, serving as the senior-most leader driving agile adoption and maturity across Digital Transformation and Innovation (DT&I). This role manages and mentors Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters, aligns agile practices with organizational goals, and cultivates a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The AVP establishes scalable frameworks and champions agile methodologies across diverse domains while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on agile implementation and strategic alignment. This position is responsible for ensuring the DT&I organization operates efficiently and delivers high-value outcomes that are aligned with business priorities.
DT&I’s mission is to bring innovative technology solutions to the clinical, operational, and administrative frontline of HCA, reshaping the processes of healthcare to improve outcomes for patients, empower clinicians with insights, and drive greater efficiency for all. In this role the VP will be responsible for innovating our IRC processes, making them more intelligent, impactful, and efficient. In so doing, we will help our operators and leaders provide the best care possible, improve our financial and operational outcomes, and help colleagues have a better experience in their work.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Agile Process Leadership
+ Lead the strategic vision and execution of agile transformation across the organization, balancing business objectives and agile maturity
+ Directly manage and develop Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters, fostering a high-performance culture and creating clear career development pathways.
+ Establish and oversee standardized frameworks for pod operations, agile ceremonies, and coaching practices to ensure consistency and excellence across all pods and teams – including quarterly business reviews.
+ Drive the selection, implementation, and continuous improvement of agile tools and practices to meet evolving organizational needs.
+ Oversee the transition from traditional operating models to agile, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and delivering measurable outcomes.
+ Define, monitor, and report on agile performance indicators, driving accountability and continuous improvement in pod performance and delivery metrics.
+ Define and track key agile performance indicators for pods and agile coaches.
Stakeholder Management
+ Serve as a key advisor and influencer to functional (e.g., Data Engineering, AI) and business (e.g., Nursing and Pharmacy Informatics) leaders, gaining buy-in and alignment with agile processes.
+ Ensure effective integration between Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Agile Coaches.
+ Serve as the organization’s primary thought leader on agile transformation, representing the agile practice in key executive and external forums
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Proven success in overseeing agile transformations in complex, matrixed organizations, preferably in healthcare or similar regulated industries. Strong track record of managing and developing Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters
+ Deep knowledge of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt experience to new and evolving environments. Experience with large-scale data science and software development delivery in complex environments (e.g., healthcare) involving strict data requirements and many stakeholders.
+ Experience with various agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean
**Education and Certifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or Related Field – Required
+ Master's degree or equivalent professional certifications – Preferred
+ 10+ years of experience in a role such as Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a fast-moving tech environment, preferably with healthcare – Required
+ 3+ years of experience in coaching or leadership roles – Preferred
+ Advanced agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Coach (CSC), Professional Scrum Master (PSC), or Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC) – Preferred
