The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Construction Casualty Managing AVP for our Mid-Construction Team out of Boston, Hartford or New York City. This is a hybrid role that would require 2 days in the office or in the market per week and 25% travel on an average month.

 

This person will lead our Northeast Mid-Construction team which includes the New York, New Jersey and New England footprint. This individual will be responsible for Northeast financial performance, regional strategy, talent management, fostering a great working culture and enhancing and pushing forward a sales & distribution strategy. This leader will work closely with Liberty Mutuals Construction, CUO and other GRS executives aligning regional vision and execution to macro corporate strategies.

 


Responsibilities

Drives a culture of underwriting excellence across entire portfolio. Drives change initiatives within the team. Maintains a visible external profile and excellent relationships with external brokers/agents, partners and stakeholders, leveraging these relationships to help the team achieve their goals and expand their own networks. Acts as a point of escalation/referral on particularly tricky or novel underwriting decisions. Upholds and exemplifies Liberty`s value proposition across the business and market. May cover for manager where required. Accountable for Financial Performance in the Northeast Construction Portfolio. Tactically and strategically drive forward the region through portfolio management, broker initiatives and underwriting development. Foster an environment where we intentionally develop our high performersPurposely pursue elite underwriting talent in the marketplaceDeliberate strategy around growing and developing our own talent to adequately staff and scale regional footprints. Tie together meaningful work to team macro initiative and objectives of the construction team. Be innovative and meticulous around progressing our brand, identity and reputation in the market. Qualifications Degree in Business or equivalent typically requiredA minimum of 10 years progressive underwriting experience expected, including a minimum of 2 years of proven underwriting management experience, preferredCPCU, CRIS or professional insurance designation preferredProven analytical ability to evaluate high impact underwriting risks within scope of responsibilityDemonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and informationDemonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners requiredMust possess the following skills, abilities and attributes: strong leadership skills, development of people, strategic thinking, sustained effective portfolio management and profitable growth, communications skills, decision-making skills, results-oriented, industrious, innovative, problem-solving skills, coaching and mentoring skills, and negotiating skills About Us
