The AVP, Corporate Finance IT is a critical role that leads the core financial technology systems for The Hartford.

This leadership position requires experience in leading and delivering significant transformation both from a business and technology viewpoint for the Finance function.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work with executives to build out the strategic plan, strong execution skills to deliver complex technology initiatives, and a proven ability to manage critical technology processes.

This leader will provide leadership to business and engineering team members through partnership and mentoring.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in Hartford, CT 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.  The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Responsibilities:

Strategy Definition and Execution: Collaborate with business functional leaders to define and refine the finance roadmap, including strategic direction for general ledger, treasury, and other key finance functionsTechnology Modernization: Transform the existing technology landscape through cloud modernization as well as instilling engineering practices within the teamTrusted advisor for the business: Partner with the various areas of the business and help in building capabilities.Manage critical applications and ensure the core SLAs are met or exceeded through process excellence.Own technical processes in support of the business including Finance close, Accounting, Treasury, Expense, Disbursements, Peoplesoft GL, Procurement, etc.Innovation Champion: Partner with business to identify and implement innovative capabilities like GenAIPartner closely with other IT functions like Transformation, Infrastructure, Security, Data, etc. to build and deliver solutionsImprove the organization’s focus on DevOps, engineering processes, and agile processes in order to drive technology effectiveness within the teamWork with various vendors (sourcing as well as software vendors), drive to business outcome, negotiate complex contracts, and ensure the right level of partnership across the teamsMake strategic buy vs. build decisions based on business and technology needsBe an inclusive leader, leading by example

Qualifications:

12+ years of IT leadership experience, with a focus on executing large-scale programs and change management (preferably in core applications).Strong foundation in technology, including significant experience in delivering large transformational programs.Experience with implementing technology solutions on cloud (like AWS) as well as implementing integrated technology solutions across SaaS and in-house applicationsProven track record as a results-oriented IT leader who collaborates effectively with business leaders and manages business outcomes.Experience managing critical technology processes like finance close, integrations with banks/financial institutions, etc.Solid background in technology and familiarity with all aspects of the software development life cycle.Strong understanding of business strategy and the ability to align technology roadmaps with business goals.Excellent people leadership abilities, including coaching, development, and mentoring.Ability to work successfully across all levels of the organization, including senior management.Experience managing complex vendor relationships and working with an offshore delivery model.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.Experience with Peoplesoft or similar systems is preferred.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$180,000 - $270,000
