Overview This AVP will lead the strategy and delivery of the insurance business data assets as well as leading the creation and execution of the strategic data roadmap. They will be responsible for the creation of technical & business metadata for both internal and external audiences. This AVP will also own UAT within the data space and have responsibility for sign-off on all production data sets (internal & external). This will be accomplished through effective collaboration and coordination with data and business professionals including architects, engineers, data scientists and product managers. Responsibilities What makes you an ideal candidate? Develops and leads the data roadmap to deliver on the overall business development objectives by defining stories and prioritizing the backlog Accountable for implementation/oversight over end to end quality, testing and certification process, while also engaging with infrastructure, architecture, information security and project delivery teams as needed Establishes policies, procedures, and best practices for data governance, metadata, and quality Provide SME and physical data expertise to support Information Architects with domain modeling, and corresponding event modeling oversight Understand program objectives and ensure key technology decisions are aligned with these objectives Serves as a “trusted advisor” and partner to Product, Analytics, Operations, Marketing, and other business teams to achieve strategic objectives, articulate business impact of data/technology challenges /decisions, and facilitate decision making Investigates data to ensure data quality Identify, screen, and evaluate new data capability opportunities to address unmet internal and external customer needs Act as key liaison across all functional areas, including business units, the IT department, and outside vendors Qualifications Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience required 7-10 years of overall experience in Information Systems required 5-7 years of Oracle database administration experience required 5-7 years management or leadership experience required. Significant experience in a large and complex business environment Advanced knowledge of information technology systems, infrastructure and operations Advanced working knowledge of information systems and operations systems for supported business groups Enterprise Systems thinking & broad understanding of data technologies Proven expert in data quality and/or data governance systems design and implementation Strategic thinking and planning - Proactive and anticipatory in their thinking Implementation experience on large data/digital transformation programs in a public/private cloud ecosystem, with a focus on data-lake and data warehouses Experience running technology implementation projects using the Agile/hybrid agile methodologies in large organizations Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tools to extract data, formulate metrics, and build reports Ability to interact with staff at all levels Excellent writing and speaking skills Advanced computer skills and conversance in information technology issues Ability to effectively lead, organize, and supervise Ability to work directly with senior level management An ability to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely with both business and technical teams Agile and able to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Highly organized and able to prioritize and work to tight deadlines Able to simplify and improve inefficient or unnecessarily complex processes What We Offer: Generous benefits package available on day one to include: 401K matching, bonding leave for new parents (12 weeks, 100% paid), tuition assistance, training, GM employee auto discount, community service pay and nine company holidays.
