Job Description:
The AVP of Finance for the Medical Group in the region is responsible for overseeing the financial performance, coordinating, planning, and analysis of the region's medical group operations. The leader is responsible for directing and coordinating the finance operations of all departments within the region’s Medical Group. The incumbent is a member of the region's Regional Executive Team and works closely with the regional leadership team, and the corporate finance team to ensure alignment of financial goals, strategies, and policies.Essential Functions
Works with the regional executive team, hospital and corporate finance in developing the long-term financial strategy for the Medical Group.
Ensures the finance functions within the medical group are in compliance with Intermountain Health policies and procedures and meets all regulatory requirements regarding financial operations. Develops financial projections that reflect the long-term plans of the enterprise and reviews new strategies and the financial impact projected for each key strategy.
Oversees the preparation of the medical group capital and operating Plans.
Works with the region executive team, corporate finance, finance director(s) and others to achieve the region's Plan target. Continually pursues ways to improve operating efficiencies.
Participates in a region, medical group or hospital-specific Boards as a member of the finance or other related committees as needed.
Prepares financial reports and presentations to enterprise and region leaders regarding Medical Group finance matters.
Monitors medical group clinic operations for accurately and timeliness of coding, documentation, and provider enrollment
Prepares or reviews financial analyses associated with feasibility studies, new programs, cost analyses, contracts, and other ventures, and makes recommendations to region leadership based on such analyses.
Leads enterprise-wide finance medical group initiatives in collaboration with medical group finance leaders from all regions

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, business/healthcare administration or related field from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Demonstrated senior level experience in financial management, planning and analysis in a large, multi-site and complex healthcare organization.
Demonstrates senior level experience as a finance leader for a physician group practice, system-level executive or through experience as a director/partner at a national consulting organization.
Extensive broad-based knowledge of health care finance, multi-specialty physician practice operations, physician compensation and productivity models, business planning/development, and payor environment.
Demonstrated working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, thorough knowledge of reimbursement principles and operations, and health care regulations.
Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and the ability to solve complex analytical problems
Must possess leadership skills including the ability to influence others and achieve results with and without direct line accountability, and function in both a leadership and support role in a team and system environment.
Experience and success working collaboratively and productively with physicians.
Experience directly managing staff with the ability to coach and mentor employees.
Must demonstrate detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Flexible and adaptable to change.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including staff, management, and physicians
Preferred
Master’s Degree in Finance, business/healthcare administration or related field from an accredited institution is preferred. Education is verified.
CPA, CMA or FHMA preferred.
Ten (10) years experience as a finance leader for a physician group practice, system-level executive or through experience as a director/partner at a national consulting organization.

This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $211,000 - $249,000, annually, and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
