The Sustainable Finance Group at Moody’s Ratings serves the needs of market practitioners by providing engagement-led analysis and research on the impact of climate and environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations on credit risk and capital markets.
The Assistant Vice President Manager - Financial Data & Analytics role will oversee a range of data, analytical, research and outreach support services work that contribute to the overall analysis performed by the Sustainable Finance Group. This includes ensuring the systematic and transparent integration of ESG considerations into credit analysis; the production of market leading thought leadership; and the delivery of independent opinions on sustainable finance instruments ("Second Party Opinions" or "SPOs") and entity carbon emissions reduction plans ("Net Zero Assessments" or "NZAs").
The AVP-Manager will be responsible for managing a team of sustainable finance professionals, ensuring delivery of high-quality data and analytics, and identifying and implementing process improvements. Prospective candidates will have a good understanding of sustainable finance, ESG investing and capital markets. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrable management experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a global team environment.

Joining the Sustainable Finance Group provides a unique opportunity to foster skills that are valuable to any future career in the sustainable finance and ESG industry. This will be a highly-visible, internally facing role, reporting into Global Head of Sustainable Finance of Moody’s Ratings.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage people and projects supporting sustainable finance data, analytics, research, outreach and assessments and apply technical knowledge to guide junior team members and lead process improvements.
* Act as a people manager with responsibility for all aspects of oversight, training, growth and development of team
* Act as primary point of oversight for the team in India
* Take full responsibility for the quality of deliverables for the staff they manage as well as end-to-end delivery of business as usual tasks. This includes data ingestion, review and quality assurance of ESG-related data, metrics and analytics used in credit analysis; and preliminary analysis for SPOs and potentially other sustainable finance assessments
* Oversee support for research projects, including data analysis, creation of relevant tables and graphs, and fact checking responsibilities
* Oversee support for outreach initiatives, including preparation and updates of Sustainable Finance Group outreach materials, and preparation of ad-hoc/bespoke materials to support the team’s outreach engagements
* Oversee support for training initiatives including support of module development by collecting data, examples and formatting of the materials.
* Ensure consistent application of standards and processes across the team and identify and implement process re-engineering and improvements where applicable
* Coordinate allocation of work across the team and manage workload pipeline to provide sufficient time for completion
* Take full responsibility for review of work and address improvement areas through feedback or training
* Manage relationships with senior stakeholders in the Sustainable Finance Group, providing regular feedback on quality and accuracy of work and constructive and proactive feedback
* Lead projects or participate in working groups or bespoke projects; for example, opportunities for digitization of workflow
* Attract, hire, develop, motivate and retain talented junior analytical staff
Skills:
Sustainable Finance:
* Understand and identify key sustainable finance and ESG analytics underpinning ratings, assessments and research with limited guidance
* Proficient in most technical and operational aspects of assigned deliverables
Stakeholder Management:
* Comfortably and professionally interact with various senior stakeholders on a wide range of topics
* Ability to effectively engage with and inspire team members of most levels
Project Management:
* Manage deliverables related to multiple projects independently
Qualifications:
* Bachelors/Masters in relevant field (e.g. economics, finance, environmental or social development)
* Relevant experience of 8+ years in data analysis and interpretation; experience in sustainable or fundamental finance will be an added advantage
* Strong organizational skills, dependable and able to multi-task and manage priorities
* Demonstrable experience of managing or mentoring a diverse team
* Excellent Microsoft Office skills, in particular advanced Microsoft Excel skills
* Fluency in English with the ability to effectively and persuasively communicate credit knowledge in both written/verbal form
* Organizational skills, with ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly
* Attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality, accurate work
* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a global team environment
