Awards Program Manager
We are seeking an **_Awards Program Manager_** who will be responsible for program management of the Vice Provost for Research’s institutional awards portfolio, including but not limited to Catalyst (supports early career faculty), Discovery (supports interdivisional research endeavors), and the President’s Frontier Awards (supports exceptional faculty). These programs represent part of the largest institutional commitment to faculty research in the country. This position will report to the Senior Research & Analytics Manager. _*While this position is considered remote, the ideal candidate should be local to Baltimore/DC for required in-person presentations, meetings, and events._ Given the highly visible nature of the VPR office, this position requires a motivated professional with expertise in programmatic management, ideally within academia or a related field. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, independent, detail- and results-oriented, works well under pressure, and has strong interpersonal skills. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** _Pre-Award_ + Coordinate with VPR/Senior leadership, VPR/University communications, and other stakeholders on community RFA announcements. + Manage the annual proposal submission processes for the awards programs, including proposal intake, troubleshooting, and answering applicant emails in timely manner. Solicit reviewers for each award cycle, ensuring equity and fairness, and assign accordingly. + Compile reviewer feedback and synthesize into leadership briefings presented to VPR/Senior leadership for approval of award recipients. + Coordinate award announcements with stakeholders and University/VPR communications. + Maintain collaborative and communicative partnerships with award donors, co-founders, and other stakeholders. + Present outcomes of the pre-award process to leadership as requested. + Schedule, organize, and lead meetings as needed. _Post-Award_ + Liaise with appropriate departmental staff to ensure efficient set up of non-sponsored accounts. + Track and maintain all award data in a central shared database. + Ensure quarterly reimbursement of all accounts with the UA finance team. + Respond and resolve all inquiries in a timely manner. Requests may include but are not limited to the extension of project periods and updates on award funding balances. + Bring to attention and consult with manager when situations/concerns arise that need to be addressed before they escalate. + Conduct surveys and analyses to assess programmatic success and areas for improvement. + Present outcomes of the post-award process to leadership as requested. + Schedule, organize, and lead meetings as needed. _Programming/events_ + In partnership with the Sr. Events Coordinator, plan and execute award-related programming. + Secure speakers (internal/external) and manage event resources, including media and logistics. + Prepare correspondence, such as briefings and invitations, that will be distributed to leadership, awardees, speakers, etc. **Special Knowledge, Skills, & abilities** + Knowledge of accounting and budgeting required. + Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions daily. + Project management - ability to meet multiple concurrent deadlines. + Strong attention to detail. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree. + Five years of related experience. + Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility—experience in higher education, financial and data analysis, and new program initiatives. + Familiarity with JHU accounting system and related fiscal offices.
