Job Description

The AWS Cloud Engineering role is responsible for the design and implementation of a well-architected solution which aggregates data from various sources, stores different types of data, and federates and displays the data in multiple dashboards and control center applications. The project includes design and architecture work, significant challenging custom software development, and migration efforts. Extensive familiarity with AWS Cloud Engineering is required, particularly in AWS Networking technical areas. The position allows multiple paths of career growth, supporting both technical and management career tracks.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement AWS architectures using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, and other AWS-native solutions to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.Conduct architectural reviews, audits, and produce detailed technical documentation and cloud architecture diagrams to support client engagements and Statements of Work.Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including front-end (React/TypeScript, NextJS), back-end (NodeJS, Express), and database teams (SQL/NoSQL)—to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.Develop and manage modern CI/CD pipelines with AWS or other cloud-native and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Analyze infrastructure requirements and perform cost-performance assessments to optimize resource usage and meet compliance standards (such as SOC2, HITRUST).Participate in discovery calls and requirements gathering sessions, translating business challenges into robust AWS solutions.Manage Agile/Scrum processes, break down user stories into actionable tasks, and ensure timely, quality delivery.Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the cloud architecture.Monitor cloud infrastructure costs and performance metrics.Act as a technical consultant, advising on best practices for AWS cloud architecture.Document architectural decisions, configurations, and design artifacts.Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.Assist with Frontend software development using React (JavaScript/TypeScript) and/or NextJS.Assist with the creation/utilization of backend and database technologies such as PostgreSQL (or other SQL or NoSQL databases) and NodeJS (Express or similar backend).Assist in building reusable components and optimizing code.Essential SkillsMinimum 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, preferably in AWS.AWS Certified Solutions Architect or other AWS Professional level certifications.Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and modern deployment practices.Expertise in designing, deploying, and managing CI/CD pipelines using AWS and/or other cloud-native tools.Solid understanding of networking and database design, both relational and NoSQL.Comfortable with programming/scripting for cloud automation (Python, Bash, etc.).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience working with and sending data between databases, S3, and applications using APIs.Experience developing production-grade web applications and/or single-page applications.Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.Experience building and utilizing secure REST and/or GraphQL APIs.Familiarity with AWS data services (Athena, Glue, Redshift).Additional Skills & QualificationsAWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty certification.AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.AWS GovCloud experience.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field (or equivalent professional experience).Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.Experience with modern CI/CD frameworks, such as GitHub Actions.

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
