As a Azure Cloud Architect supporting GDIT’s Federal Health Division, you will be trusted to support cloud contracts for multiple customers in multi-cloud environments with other technical engineers and architects spanning AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure technologies. In this role, a typical day will include:

Leads the team in supporting operations and management of applications on cloud platforms.  Provides architecture support for Azure tenant hosting Microsoft 365 and AD.Maintains strategic alignment with all customer IT roadmaps, ensuring that technical solutions in development are aligned to objectives.Assists in defining technical requirements for CSP service offerings that meet long-term objectives, in collaboration with the customer.Provides technical input, cross-functional collaborations, and make architecture recommendations in alignment with industry best practices; e.g., providing technical input to cloud services product roadmaps; producing whitepapers and/or technical requirements documentation; produce Architecture documents and artifacts.Consults and engages with customers to help them understand what options they have in the cloud and identifies the optimal platform and architecture for their workloadsMeet with customers to understand the workload(s) they plan to deployReview architectures and make recommendationsGather networking requirements and any special configurations neededHelp customers identify the appropriate CSP for their workload(s)Provide guidance to customers on how best to manage their workload(s)Provide guidance on security best practicesOnboard new customers and projects into the environment.Provides support for AI/ML workloads helping customers get started.Provides tier 2 or tier 3 troubleshooting to ensure the cloud environment is configured toperform AI/ML tasks. Interface with CSP support to resolve issues.Works with relevant security teams and personnel to monitor and maintain all security controls for the enterprise cloud environments to adhere to the ATO at the assigned FISMA moderate designation level (currently moderate). This includes, but is not limited to, remediation of POA&Ms items and other continuous diagnostic and mitigation (CDM) requirements.Participates in performance testing and security testing of environments in support of risk remediation and to verify compliance of the ATO.Provides after-hours support to the team as needed to resolve critical incidents and meet operational architectural needs.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

9+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experienceAzure Associate level certifications and at least one professional certification.Deep, hands-on technical experience with cloud technologies and hybrid cloud architecturesExperience with cloud hosted databases such as Azure SQLHands-on experience migrating on premise workloads to the cloudExperience with virtualization technologies such as VMwareAutomation experience with at least one CM/CI tool such as OpsWorks, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible, and Azure Resource ManagerSolid understanding of alerts and monitoring tools, and system management tools  Experience with fundamental storage concepts: filesystems, backup, cloning, snapshotting, logical volume management, disk encryption.Understanding of Web and Application Server technologies (such as, Apache HTTP, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, IIS)Proficient with segmentation, isolation, and micro segmentation networking concepts, Firewalls, NAT, SNAT, DNAT, and Load Balancing technologies.Demonstrated hands-on experience in server systems engineering and administration (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Subject Matter Expert in Azure, including professional experience architecting and operating solutions built on AzureStrong understanding of Azure technologies (VNet, Azure SQL Database, IAM, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Load Balancer) and othersExperience with High-Availability, Fault Tolerance, Scalability, Database Concepts, System and SoftwareStrong understanding of application, server, and network security and government requirements such as FISMA/FedRAMPDirect experience in an enterprise large-scale hosted computing environmentExperience with hybrid Cloud environmentsExperience assessing, planning, designing, and migrating/transforming legacy applications to the CloudWorking knowledge of software development tools, web services, and methodologies

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:  

Azure Professional level certifications strongly preferredExperience implementing enterprise cloud storage and disaster recovery solutionsStrong CLI and API scripting (e.g., PowerShell, JSON, Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python)Apache & Tomcat administration experienceProficient in orchestration and workflow automation and developmentSoftware Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous DeliveryContinuous integration/continuous deployment experience is strongly preferredKnowledge of DevOps technologies is preferredContainer systems (Kubernetes, Mesosphere, Docker)Experience with other cloud environments such as AWS, Google, or others are a plus

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
