Azure Database Administrator ( DBA )
**Job Description Summary** Looking for a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our collaborative IT team. You will play a crucial part in shaping and maintaining our Oracle and MS SQL Server databases. You will be responsible for optimizing database performance and system security, provide database modeling expertise while contributing to the dynamic needs of our data landscape. Knowledge of Azure environment and managing the DBs on Azure cloud is required. **Job Description** **Essential Responsibilities** + Install and configure Oracle and MS SQL Server databases, setting up database user accounts, maintaining system security, enforcing database policies, and ensuring compliance with data integrity standards and managing the DBs on Azure cloud is required + Regularly monitor and review database server performance metrics - identify opportunities and implement changes to optimize performance of application databases through indexing, disk optimization, and other methods. + Carry out database maintenance tasks, backing up and restoring data to prevent data loss, running diagnostic checks, upgrading software, and implementing patches. + Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, detecting and resolving faults, documenting problems and resolutions, and implementing preventative measures. + Work closely with IT project managers and software developers ensuring that application data is available as required; including application database deployment support. + Participate in documenting procurement processes, change management, and incident response for SOX and HIPPA compliance. + Implement Lean daily management and Lean continuous improvement concepts in database management and operations. + Manage SQL Authentication roles and permission + Implement TDE ( Transparent Data Encryption ), encryption in transit + Able to configure advanced threat protection and vulnerability assessments to identify and address security issues. + Setup auditing and logging to track database access and modifications + Query optimization ( Identify and resolve slow running queries ) + Monitor DTU/vCore usage and optimize workloads + Monitor and optimize database cost by choosing appropriate service tier, pricing model and scaling strategies. **Qualifications/Requirements** + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. + 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, specifically in database administration. + 5+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration and PL/SQL + Certifications in Oracle and MS SQL Server are preferred. + Strong knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices. + Proficiency in data modeling skills, experience with Erwin is a plus. + Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter is a plus. **Desired Characteristics:** + Effective Communicator: Possess the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, facilitating understanding across a wide range of audiences. + Solution-Oriented Mindset: Demonstrated ability to approach challenges with a solutions-first attitude, proactively identifying and addressing potential obstacles. + Change Advocate: Capable of spearheading and implementing change, showcasing a proactive approach to driving improvements and leading teams towards new initiatives. + Leadership Qualities: Show a strong capacity to lead, influence, and guide teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. + Technical Translator: Excel at translating and breaking down intricate technical topics, ensuring that stakeholders at all levels have a clear understanding of the subject matter. + Analytical Thinker: Possess an analytical and detail-oriented mindset, critically evaluating information derived from multiple sources and drawing meaningful conclusions. + Team Player: Exhibit a strong willingness to collaborate and work cohesively with colleagues, understanding the importance of collective growth and knowledge sharing. + Adaptability: Demonstrate resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing environment, staying updated with the latest technological advancements and best practices in the field of database administration. + Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn + Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively + Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed + Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative + Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker **About Us:** GE Aerospace is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
