Position: BA2 – Site Operations Assistant – RBC Bluesfest

Desired Contract Length: 26 Weeks             Start Date: Feb 3, 2025         End Date: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2025.  Additional weeks, ending August 1, 2025, are pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2025-2026) JCP program agreement

Work Schedule:  Full Time – 4 business days (32 hours per week)          Location:  Hybrid:  Own Home and Westboro office

Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). Reporting to and working under the direction of the Director of Operations and the Site Operations Manager, the Operations Admin Assistant is responsible for assisting with festival operational issues, logistical needs, and office administration.

The Opportunity:

Responsible for assisting with ordering on-site supplies such as motorized vehicles, beverages, etc. Review the current and help prepare the Emergency Preparedness Plan for the current festival year. Work with the signage and graphics team to prepare the festival site for all necessary signage. The retrieval and submission of PSPC Health and Safety documents as needed Assist with setting up the on-site administrative office, logistical and operational aspects of the festival site Responsible for assisting with vendor paperwork, contract review, collecting/applying payments in the vendor Assist with coordinating vendor logistics/setup and other logistics needs onsite as assigned. Responsible for acting as liaison for food concessionaires, craft artisans and vendors when needed Work closely with suppliers and sponsors to ensure that contractual obligations are being met. Post-festival: ensure payments are received and tracking is completed for 2025 Respond to phone and email general inquiries about the festival and redirect/escalate to other staff when applicable. Consistently provide knowledgeable, empathetic service to patrons via walk-in, phone, email, or other forms of contact.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize; proven success multi-tasking in a high pressure environment. Proven ability to think creatively and strategically. Working knowledge of POS systems; advanced knowledge of MS Office & Google Apps. Ability to work independently as well as within a team; excellent written and oral communication skills; French is an asset.

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria: 

An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.   A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.  Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:  Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.  Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.  Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.  Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months. 

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.     

Remuneration:

$688 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $21.50 based on 4 days/32 hours).
