Job Description
The Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. This role supports clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient population. The medical assistant floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support in either the MA role or dedicated lab.
Responsibilities
+ Perform quality team-based patient care under clinician supervision.
+ Support clinician and care management teams in chronic disease management, patient examination, and treatment.
+ Perform all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
+ Float between various offices as needed to support medical assistant or lab roles.
Essential Skills
+ Medical assisting
+ RMA or CCMA certification
+ Phlebotomy skills
+ Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements
+ Knowledge of basic medical terminology
+ Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices
+ Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
+ Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly
+ Active BLS certification
+ Active driver's license
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma required
+ 2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare setting
+ MA diploma OR Certified MA (CMA) OR 3 years' MA experience
+ Phlebotomy experience required
+ Experience with TriMed EMR preferred
+ MUST be able to take vitals (manual vitals preferred)
+ Flexible to adjust to changing work environment
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite and requires floating between Palm Beach Gardens, St Lucie West, and Port St Lucie.
The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and every other Saturday with a half-day in the week.
Locations include: 555 NW Lake Whitney Pl, Port St. Lucie, FL; 1850 Southwest Fountainview Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Palm Beach Gardens. When traveling between clinics, $0.67/mile is reimbursed, and a $20 gas card is provided if floating outside of core locations.
