Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Backup and Disaster Recovery Engineer role is to ensure the integrity and recoverability of data, data systems, and networks across the organization. This includes designing and implementing disaster recovery processes and business continuity procedures for re-establishing IT infrastructure, Applications, and Data availability in the event of a disruption, both minor and catastrophic. This person will also perform and analyze disaster simulations for the prompt restoration of services and conduct audits where required.
Primary Tasks:
1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical systems and data.
2. Develop and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans aligned with identified risks.
3. Maintain and update disaster recovery documentation to reflect changes in infrastructure and applications.
4. Coordinate disaster recovery testing and simulations to validate plan effectiveness.
5. Provide training and awareness to staff on disaster recovery procedures and emergency response actions.
6. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure alignment of backup and recovery strategies with overall IT objectives.
7. Participate in vendor management activities related to Cohesity.
8. Stay current with industry best practices for data protection and disaster recovery.
9. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or 4 years of related work experience
· 5 years of relevant work experience
· Broad knowledge of Technology Disaster recovery planning and administration as it aligns to industry-standard techniques and practices.
· Working technical experience in a disaster recovery role administering technology
· Excellent written communication skills used to develop policy and procedure.
· Project Management Skills
· Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning as related to Technology
