Overview The Baker position is responsible for preparing breads, pastries, desserts and other food items, helping the kitchen team set up for presentations of food items accross the property and set up allocated pars for menus, as instructed by the Chef, while complying with company and department standards. The baker position is a part-time or full-time, year around position at Boyne Mountain Resort. Responsibilities The Baker's typical job functions (including but not limited to): Preparing food according to food handling guidelines and cooking procedures Measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipe or use record to prepare and prep food item Proofing, baking and developing breads, sweetbreads, and muffins Working with Chocolate, Sugar and other mediums per recipes or directions Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period Communicating and coordinating production with other cooks, wait staff and members of the food and beverage team Possessing knowledge and become familiar with all kitchen equipment Maintaining a clean working area Adjusting thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, kettles, etc. as needed Observing and testing foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with thermometer to determine proper preparation and cooking Plating and proportioning food and maintaining consistency according to presentation specifications, using records or specs Labeling, dating and rotating all stored food Performing closing procedures including equipment maintenance and shut off, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas Qualifications This position may for you if: You are at least 18 years old You have achieved a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) You have previous baking experience; posess or able to obtain ServSafe certification upon hire You are available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays You are interesting in working with a team and adding to a positive work culture
