As the Baker you will be a vital member at our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for preparing and setting out the fresh bread, pastries and other baked foods for the whole crew at mealtimes and breaks. The baker’s responsibility is to ensure the quality of the elements being used is up to date and maintain a record of when supplies are running low to be able to replenish stocks in a timely manner.   

Essential Functions/Qualifications   

The responsibilities of the position include the following:  

Mixing, preparing and baking bread and pastries.  Arranging the display case in an appealing manner.  Maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies, order as needed.  Effectively manage time properly to meet deadlines and with production schedules.   Crafting and creating new and exciting baked goods.  Ability to create visually appealing and delicious baked goods. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality products. Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot environment. Ensuring all baked goods are completed on time for employee breaktime. Ability to shape and portion dough or batter into precise, uniform \"bullets\" for efficient baking. Proficiency in working quickly and accurately to meet high-volume production demands. Maintaining consistent size, shape, and weight of baked goods. Effective management of inventory levels for both raw materials and finished goods, minimizing waste and ensuring sufficient supply. Regular cleaning and maintenance of baking equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Other duties as assigned to ensure the kitchen and team are fully supported and successful.

Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members in a fast-paced environment.  Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with customers, management, and colleagues.  Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and priorities.  Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality baked goods.  Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and production goals.  Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills to interact with customers and address their needs.  

Education and Experience  

1 year certificate from college or other school, six months related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Sound knowledge of food safety standards and procedures.  Previous experience in seafood industry or manufacturing not required but preferred. SERV Safe certification preferred.   

Work Environment and Schedule  

The kitchen environment can be fast-paced and demanding, requiring individuals to work efficiently under pressure. It involves long hours, often including evenings and weekends. The work can be physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in hot and humid conditions. Position requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska. 

Physical Demands  

The Baker will regularly be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. This role is frequently required to climb or balance. The Baker is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.   

Mental Activities   

Excellent in working as a team with good work ethics, good decision-making skills and is occasionally required to use interpersonal skills, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills. Able to multitask in a very stressful and fast-paced work environment. Pay attention to details and have a high level of accuracy, be flexible and stress resistant. The employee will occasionally be required to exercise independent judgment and use discretion.
