Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Bakery Lab Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the quality and consistency of bakery products through detailed sampling, testing, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all products meet our high standards.

ResponsibilitiesPull bakery ingredient samples or bakery batter samples off the line every hour per the SOP.Dry power bakery ingredients - weigh and mix per the recipe specifications, including the proper amount of eggs, oil, water, and other ingredients when necessary.Mix ingredients using an industrial mixer.Weigh the appropriate amount of batter into the appropriate baking container.Bake products according to the specified time and temperatures in the recipe.Evaluate the product through basic laboratory testing such as pH, weight, height, spreading, percent moisture, and viscosity (of batter for the raw ingredients before baking).Enter results into the internal SAP database and on Excel spreadsheets.For raw batter, repeat all steps above per specifications but do not mix the eggs, oil, water, and other ingredients.Work with cakes, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cake donuts, and yeast-raised donuts.Mix, roll, proof, and cut donuts before cooking.Conduct QA documentation review on the production line of batch records and perform QA checks including label checks for accurate product, listing of ingredients, and allergen information.Perform metal detector checks, audits, and inspections.Verify all paperwork has been completed appropriately.Take on other projects and responsibilities based on the ability to show leadership qualities and initiative.Essential SkillsExperience in baking and cooking.Knowledge of laboratory procedures.Experience in industrial baking, quality control, and QC testing.Proficiency in mixing, blending, and following SOPs.Ability to perform pH testing.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma required.Minimum 6 months of work experience in quality control, any industry.About Actalent
