Summary: A balance operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a balance machine that measures the weight of products and materials.

 

Responsibilities:

Balance paper machine rolls to required tolerances established by work order, supervisor and/or engineer Look for improvements in process and report to supervisor. Make balancing decisions on rolls, based on experience and available information. Transfer weights into shells, drill and tap and bolt into place. Access inside of rolls or components to transfer weights. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of computer to operate balancer. Must demonstrate mathematical ability, including trigonometry, to determine angles, deflections, weight transfers and/or vector splitting, required on the balancing process. Must demonstrate knowledge of machining processes, including a fundamental knowledge of balancing. Must know how to read blueprints

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED preferred. Vocational School graduate in machine shop practices, or equivalent.

 

Physical demands:

Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time. Must have manual dexterity in order to operate machines as directed. Must have excellent hand-eye coordination. Must wear gloves and ear protection.
