Banco de Talento - Technical Specialist II Perú

Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, is seeking a Technical Specialist II who will be responsible for overseeing laboratory testing to support sales activities in the mining and mineral processing segment at our mining lab in Arequipa, Peru. This work will include a variety of tests related to mineral flotation, as well as other lab testing related to solid-liquid separation, filtration, foam control, and rheology modification. In this position you will perform quality testing, maintenance, and calibrations of the instruments in addition to assisting in the development of new test methods as needed. You will also travel to site to support onsite related activities including plant trial support, testing at customer labs as well as using relevant equipment to conduct hydrodynamic studies.

What You Will Do: Prepare raw ore samples for flotation testing when required – crushing, splitting, bagging, etc.Prepare chemical samples for lab flotation testing when required – to be done under supervision of the Formulation Specialist.Prepare documentation to ship chemical samples to customers.Conduct laboratory flotation tests – grinding and flotation; this work can be done at the Nalco owned laboratory or at the customer laboratory.Prepare products from the flotation tests (concentrate and tailings samples) for assaying – filtration, drying and pulverizing.Tabulate, graph and interpret results of lab assays.Calibrate and maintain laboratory analytical equipment.Complete all the other various types of lab tests that will be required from time to time including settling rate tests (cylinder tests), jar tests, filtration tests (vacuum and twin belt press), particle size screening tests, field water tests (pH, alkalinity, Total Hardness, Ca Hardness, conductivity, sulfates, iron, phosphates etc.) and rheology tests.Under direction of Water ITC, submit water and scale deposit samples to corporate analytical labs in appropriate region.Support the local Industry Technical Consultant to execute work that must be done at the customer site, including:Laboratory trialsPlant trialsTechnical audits including hydrodynamic studies using APBS.

Personal Training and Development

The successful candidate will receive all relevant technical (statistics, flotation science, water science, etc.) and commercial training (CMV, VSP, CSP etc.). The safety courses are mandatory, and retraining must be completed within the frequencies specified.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgy, mineral processing or chemistry.Recent graduate; up to 2 years work experience is highly recommended.Strong interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask and manage competing priorities.Agile, self-driven and results oriented.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong project management skillsExcellent skills in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint)Fluency in English and SpanishLocation: Arequipa (Peru)
