Overview:

Primary Responsibilities:Reconcile assigned accounts on a daily basis, including higher complexity level reconciliations.Ensure transactions are classified and recorded according to established policies and procedures.Gather and research data to prepare semi-routine financial and accounting reports, summaries, and statements, including regular departmental reporting assignments.Maintain proper procedures relating to accounting policy.Provide analysis of variances and apply knowledge for resolution and process improvement needs.Interact with internal and external (vendor) business partners as required.Complete complex and non-standard analyses and decisioning according to established procedures.Identify and troubleshoot variances indicating system issues.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 1 years’ general work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience

Strong working knowledge of pertinent spreadsheet software

Strong analytical skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of 4 years’ bank operations experience

Prior accounting and/or reconciliation experience

Knowledge of pertinent Bank systems
