Banner Functional Analyst (Analyst, Student Systems)
*The University of Maryland, Baltimore has an exciting opportunity for a Banner Functional Analyst (Student Systems Analyst) to join their team. *Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Administration/University Registrar, the Banner Functional Analyst is a vital member of the department's internal systems team and assists with day-to-day systems operations. The selected candidate provides technical support for the Financial Aid & University Registrar office related to updating, maintenance, and troubleshooting processes with Banner Student Information System. The Banner Functional Analyst assists the financial aid team in meeting crucial deadlines, solves problems, and communicates updates and resolutions with internal and external teams. The incumbent assist in system testing of new and existing functionality due to system upgrades and critical fixes. This position resides in Enrollment Administration and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Administration/University Registrar and works closely with the Director of Student Financial Assistance & Employment and the Associate Registrar. Exempt regular staff receive a generous leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, paid holidays, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job). *Essential Functions* * Provides technical support and assist with day-to-day systems operations of student information systems. * Assists the financial aid team in meeting crucial deadlines, solves problems, and communicates updates and resolutions with internal and external teams. * Assists in system testing of new and existing functionality due to system upgrades and critical fixes. * Assists in accurately configuring and maintaining run controls for financial aid manual processes and batch automated jobs for the weekly production schedule. * Assists in identifying database issues and the implementation of a resolution. * Interacts with various members of campus including Admissions, Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Services and Information Technology Services. * Researches and develops new strategic approaches and solutions. Provides project leadership and assists in writing specifications for needed system fixes and modifications. * Facilitates cross-departmental communication to ensure flow of data. Works with the central registrar’s office and collaborates with admissions offices to process the transfer process. * Leads the Quottly process to ensure all active credits are in the Banner system with all equivalences. * Responsible for completing the State of Maryland transfer reporting. Collaborates with end users to identify needs and develops documentation for new and existing functionality. Works closely with individuals within and outside the Enrollment Administration units to coordinate and improve reporting processes and provide timely customer service. * Performs additional related duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor's degree required preferably in a job related field of study. *Experience:*Two (2) years of related technical, analytical, or administrative experience. *Other:*Related experience may be substituted for minimum education. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* * Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. * Working knowledge of financial aid (preferably with Ellucian Banner and MHEC MD Caps) and development and maintenance of systems solutions. * Ability and specialized skills to: interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Proficient in using standard office and financial software (Ellucian Banner; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). * Excellent verbal, written communication and mathematical skills. * Ability to organize and plan work and projects, including handling multiple priorities. * Ability to research and analyze data, and provide results to leadership. * Skill in using MS Office applications and experience with Ellucian/Banner, COD, EdConnect, and MHEC MD Caps preferred. /*The Hiring Range for this position is in the low to mid $60,000s, commensurate with education and experience.*/ UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
