Take the first step towards a rewarding career by applying today. Overview Responsible for acting as a contact person for banquet functions. Also responsible for supervising banquet staff, ensuring that functions are set correctly, helping with paperwork, linen inventory and training of staff. Responsible for all aspects in execution of outlet functions. Responsible for timeliness and efficient service of all meetings social functions which meet or exceed company standards. Responsible for adhering hotel policies and procedures. Responsible for adhering to all liquor liability laws. Effectively supervise and coordinate the outlet staff during all food and beverage service. Assign work and monitor the performance of scheduled outlet staff. Provide training and corrective instructions. Alert management of potentially serious issues. Ensure attractiveness of food and beverage displays, display carts, buffets and coffee breaks so that full merchandizing effect can be realized through color, eye appeal and artistic arrangements. Ensure that linen, silverware; china and glassware are spotless clean at all times and free of any chips or cracks. Work closely with Kitchen Staff to communicate speed of service, client numbers, and special requests. Greet guests upon arrival; introduce him/herself to a meeting / convention planner as primary contact while group is in house. Respond to guest requests and/or complaints in a prompt and professional manner. May review guest check with client after function and obtain signature. Participate in pre-function meeting and review all information pertinent to service and set up of group. Inspect scheduled function areas/rooms, table set-ups, bar set-ups, buffet tables, receptions and coffee breaks for cleanliness, attractiveness, and proper layout. Follow procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of inventory and equipment, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial transactions, (3) check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness, and (4) to minimize misuse and breakage of china, glassware, linen, and supplies and to ensure that no re-usable goods are wasted. May handle incoming/outgoing boxes and exhibit materials. Check storage and prep area for cleanliness, proper setups, sufficient supplies and equipment. Develop Par stocks and ensure proper compliance for ordering and usage. Post all checks through POS system after each event. Prepare daily supervisor report at the end of shift. Conduct daily BEO Meeting. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic reading, writing and math skills and one year experience in banquet service / outlet or set-up. This job requires ability to perform the following: Handling, carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds (tables, chairs, trays, bus tubs) Moving about the function areas Bending, stooping, kneeling Follow the principles of CARE and the Four Disciplines of Associate Success. Other: Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and leading others. Reading and writing abilities are utilized often with banquet event orders, guest checks, and giving and receiving instructions. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency. Basic math skills are utilized in the proper set-up of function space and/or communication of guest checks. May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Basic Computer skills, POS system and Cash Register Knowledge (ie, being able to operate the computer and Cash Register without supervision) Basic to intermediate Food and Beverage vocabulary is used while taking orders while interacting with the publicMaking small talk Knowledge of basic hospitality vocabularyCulinary terms Safety and Hygiene terms Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $16.00/Yr. - $16.00/Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
