ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for executing the preparation, setup, and teardown of banquet areas/meeting spaces, moving furniture and stage platforms, lifting heavy objects such as chairs, tables, and dance floor sections and pushing/pulling carts and all other duties as determined by the Director of Catering and banquets. The Banquet Porter interacts with guest and maintains the cleanliness of work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards & fire codes from the City of Nevada.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Candidate must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral form. Previous experience as a banquet set up porter preferred, but not required. Requires the ability to work consistently with tables and chairs and communicate with other and within a team environment. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and stressful environment with prolonged walking/standing. Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. at a time, push/pull up to 400 lbs. at a time; and handle heavy machinery such as pallet jacks, taggers, fork lifts, etc. Candidate must be able to work rotating shifts and be available to be on-call /standby for shift availability. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Possess excellent communication skills, both in written and oral form. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete reports, correspondence and communicate with guests, Team Members and supervisors. Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public. High School Diploma or GED required. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are a must. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. In addition to performance of essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of functions to be determined based upon the particular needs of the Hotel.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee: must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, team members and others. Is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and move through all areas of the casino; speak and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel. May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
