 Banquet Server will be responsible for providing friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and accurate service to create an exceptional banquet event dining experience. Ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Position: Banquet Server – On Call

Reports to: Director of Catering & Conventions

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Banquet Server will be responsible for providing friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and accurate service to create an exceptional banquet event dining experience.   Ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Essential Functions

Acknowledge guest in all public spaces with a warm and friendly greetingAssist in the setup of banquet tables, buffet and coffee stations for events according to banquet event order (BEO).   Serve food and beverage items. Bussing and clearing all tables during events and when events finishedEnsure cleanliness of function areas before and after functions.  Clear tables and return all equipment to their respective areas.  Ensure back function areas are clean at the end of eventEnsure service safety by transporting all equipment in the proper manner.  Be responsible for handling of all equipment and ensure that all spills and breakage are attended to immediatelyGather all equipment necessary to service a function and maintain a clear and immaculate service areaEnsures event area set ups are accurate and presented in a timely mannerEnsures compliance with all cash handling and bill handling policies and proceduresAssist guest with any specials requestsAbility to communicate with manager on inventory needs, i.e. chairs, tables, and banquet linensProfessional communication while using technologyRespect all guests, team members, and management by maintaining a positive, friendly attitudeAbility to interact with guests and share hotel knowledge using personalization, such as using the guest nameAbility to take initiative and handle assignments with limited supervisionFollow all hotel policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbookAdhere to grooming and appearance standardPerforms service recovery when required to ensure complete guest satisfactionPerforms opening and closing side workAdheres to responsible alcohol service guidelinesUnderstands Luminary Hotel & Co. menu ingredients, as well as overall operation, philosophy, activities and services in order to better answer guest questionsAdheres to Luminary Hotel & Co. standards for guest serviceReports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediatelyPerform other duties as management requests to service our guests

Hotel Performance

Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on the GSS according to Marriott

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

Must have at least 2-3 years’ experience as a banquet server, preferably in upscale hotel or resort.Must be able to work flexible hours, breakfast, lunch and or dinner shifts, weekends and holidays.Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.Ability to learn and master the POS system. Experience with Oracle MICROS POS is a plus.ServSafe certifiedHigh School diploma or higherExcellent customer service skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

NOTICE:  The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
