Whiskey has been distilled at Midleton Distillery since 1825. As well as being known for its much-loved whiskey brands including Jameson, Powers, Redbreast, Method and Madness, Green Spot, Knappogue and Midleton Very Rare, the distillery is also home to one of Ireland’s most impressive visitor centres – The Midleton Distillery Experience.

Jameson and the wider portfolio of whiskeys are amongst the world’s favourite, and the Visitor Centre exists to offer whiskey fans the opportunity to learn, taste and interact with these whiskeys at the distillery in which they are crafted.

About the role:

A vacancy currently exists for the role of Bar Manager within the Brand Home management team. Our whiskeys spend many years maturing, and we believe that every whiskey must be perfectly served. Bar operations are extensive at the Brand Home and include all beverage service operations such as bars, tasting rooms, cocktail rooms, VIP areas and educational spaces.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Bars:

Lead the bars team to effectively plan, coordinate and manage day-to-day operations.Ensure the bar and food teams are continuously trained.Establish SOPs for every practice within the bar and food operations.Take responsibility for all bar stock including ordering, stocktaking and store-room management.Place the whiskey brands at the centre of all bar operations.Drive consumer brand loyalty by delivering a wonderful bar experience.Ensure all visitors receive a perfectly served whiskey.Work closely with the Experience Manager to ensure every visitor enjoys a memorable whiskey tasting.Continuously develop the bar offerings to drive brand advocacy and generate revenue.Ensure bar operations at both Midleton and Dublin distilleries are aligned through regular contact with Dublin based colleagues.

Other Responsibilities:

As a member of the management team, share weekly duty manager shifts with your manager colleagues.Form a relationship with the Marketing Teams and remain up to date on brand developments.Work closely with senior site management to achieve financial goals across revenue, general overheads and labour spend.Provide support to management colleagues across areas of the business as required.Manage cash control and EPOS in bar operational areas.Work closely with management in the recruitment, training, development and motivation of staff.Ensure a culture of Health & Safety is part of the everyday way of working at the distillery.

 Skills, Qualifications and Experience

A third level qualification, preferable at degree level, in Business, Tourism, Retail, Marketing, Hospitality or similar.An open, approachable, and professional management style.Achievement of results through team playing.IT/Systems literate and an appetite to embrace new technology.Two years’ operations experience at management level in a fast-paced, quality, consumer environment.Relevant experience within the drinks/hospitality industry is desirable.
