 Bar Back will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Luminary Hotel & Co. service standards and standards of Mainsail Lodging & Development. Beacon Bar Back will also be responsible for helping all other staff and operations to maintain a well-organized, clean and well stocked outlet. Friendly interactions with patrons will be required but focus will be on the support staff position.

Essential Functions

Provide service to bartenders in a timely mannerPrepare all mixes and garnishesEnsure proper rotation of all liquor, beer, wine and consumable itemsKeep bar top clean and free of dirty glasses, trash, etc. throughout shiftKeep back bar clean and organizedClean glasses, utensils, and bar equipmentClean all spills immediately and place all trash in proper receptaclesSweep and mop as neededEmpty trash as necessaryAssist with loading/unloading of miscellaneous equipment, such as boxes, food and beverage productMaintain opening/closing liquor, beer, wine and consumables parEnsure all stocking is complete, requisitions are filled out and any shortage of stock is reportedProvide guests with accurate and thorough information regarding menu items, pricing, and allergen informationLight food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hotRecognize and cultivate regular guests and repeat businessRespond to guest concerns/complaints and correct errors or resolve complaints while maintaining a positive attitude escalating to management when necessaryMonitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive guests and promptly bring to a manager’s attentionInform management of any complaint, comments or incidentEnsure nightly/weekly and opening/running/closing duties are completedRecord and report any equipment failure and/or safety hazards to management immediatelyMove furniture as directed by management, including but not limited to: tables, chairs, bar stools, banquettes, bar tables, boxes, and equipmentComply with all safety and health department procedures and all state and federal liquor lawsMaintain company safety and sanitation standardsAssists and/ or completes additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

High School diploma or higherPrevious hospitality experience requiredMinimum of one (1) year related experienceExperience with POS systemsFamiliarity with beer and spiritsProper lifting techniquesGuest relationsSanitation and safetySafe alcohol serviceFull service restaurant operations

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 30 pounds or moreAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate clearlyCorrected vision to normal rangeAbility to work long hours as needed

NOTICE:  The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  All associates must always realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to move associates form their accustomed shift as business demands.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must always be projected.
