In the years since, we’ve grown from a staff of a handful of folks to more than 90 full-time employees, with hundreds more seasonal workers and over 650 volunteers. We’ve awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of scholarships to our staff. The Medora Musical has earned the attention of The New York Times. Summary/Objective: A Barback will have a primary day-to-day responsibility to assist with serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, bus tables and the bar as needed, and collect money for drinks served. Duties/Responsibilities + Greets customers and present beverage menus. + Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries. + Record drink orders accurately into our POS system. + Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes. + Upsell drink and menu items to customers. + Bussing tables and the bar in the tavern, and ensuring all areas are clean and sanitary. + Ensures that customers are legal drinking age by checking photo IDs. + Uses proper judgment and when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive + Responsible for delivering excellent guest service in an upbeat, friendly manner. + Ensures that fruit and other garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar. + Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized. + Attractively displays glasses and liquor bottles. + Knows the Theodores’ Dining Room menu with ability to describe items and make recommendations when applicable. + Collects money from customers for drinks prepared and served + Balances the cash register at the start and close of each shift + Inventories and restock liquor, beer, and other bar related supplies. + Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities + None Requirements Required Skills/Abilities + Excellent verbal communication skills. + Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers + Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult situations. + Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately. + Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment. + Must be reliable. Required Education and Experience + Must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages. + Must obtain food handlers license, and alcohol license. + At least one year of related experience. + Must be able to operate the POS system, or willing to learn.
