In advance of opening Brutto Americano, a new Italian-inspired restaurant from Brian Burns and Reno De Ranieri of Osteria Lupo and Costera, The Barnett Hotel, located in the Warehouse District, is hiring thoughtful team-players to join our team.  While Brutto Americano is slated to open in early January 2025, position start dates will range the month of December.

SUMMARY

Prepare beverage orders in accordance with The Barnett standards and recipes. Manage flow of guests in and around bar area. Keep bar clean and organized.

CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepare cocktails and other drink orders to guests’ specifications while maintaining Hotel quality standards.

2. Handle payment for beverage purchases in compliance with HRI and cash handling procedures.

3. Properly check all guests’ identification to ensure legal age compliance.

4. Properly input guest orders through the POS system.

5. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

6. Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu offerings.

7. Manage inventory for liquor, wine, beer, and other beverage ingredients.

8. Perform side work as needed.

8. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

9. If applicable, must meet any required minimum age to serve alcohol.

10. Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule.

11. Knowledge of safety initiatives in compliance with OSHA guidelines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum 1 year previous experience as a bartender. Minimum 2 years previous experience in a fast-paced bar and/or restaurant. Additional hotel and/or restaurant experience preferred. Must have any legally required bartending certifications, if applicable. Additional certifications (ServSafe, TiPS, etc.) preferred.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:

1. Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests.

2. Ability to acknowledge guests’ requests in a polite manner.

3. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).

4. Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

5. Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.

6. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The typical environment is a bar atmosphere with ambient room temperatures, ambient lighting, and common bar equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Sit, walk, and stand continuously.

2. Lift / carry 25lbs (frequently) and 50lbs (occasionally)

3. Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.

4. Use dominate hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.

5. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery.
