BASE SUPERVISOR - ROMA, QLD

Weatherford Roma, QLD is immediately seeking a fulltime permanent Base Supervisor who is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the base, and providing comprehensive support to the operations team, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and facility maintenance. This role involves supporting operations to meet company and client safety requirements, maintaining high-quality standards, and overseeing facility maintenance activities to support operational efficiency.

 

Reporting to the Area Director, this role will use their Management & Leadership skills to deliver a high performing operation location focused on delivering exceptional Safety, Quality and Customer Service.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

 

Governance and Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to the Company's Security, Compliance & HSE policies, Management System, and relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices. Uphold the Company's Rules to Live By. Safety Support: Assist operational product lines with all internal and external safety matters, including conducting and closing out audits, conducting HSSE meetings, updating documentation, preventive maintenance of facilities and machineries and implementing company safety initiatives. Core Values: Prioritize Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental Protection, ensuring no intentional risk to employees, processes, customers, or communities. Continuous Improvement: Drive continual improvement in Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Protection, incorporating responsible care, process vulnerabilities, public and customer input, knowledge and technology, and best business practices to exceed customer expectations. Hazmat and Journey Management Audits: Conduct regular inspections and audits of Hazmat storage, handling practices, and Journey Management processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. Safety Leadership: Demonstrate effective safety leadership, ensuring the health and safety of all employees and visitors on Company premises. Ensure all 3rd party employees/ contractors working in our premises had competed the safety induction training and adherence to our HSE Standard and requirement Driving Champion: Serve as the designated Driving Champion for Australasia, ensuring robust Driving and Journey Management Safety systems are effectively implemented and used. HAZMAT Champion: Serve as the designated HAZMAT Champion for Australasia, ensuring compliance with all local, regional, and Company regulations regarding hazardous materials (Hazmat) storage, maintenance, and transportation.

 

 QUALITY:

Quality Policies: Familiarize and comply with the Company's Quality policies, actively participating in the compliance and improvement of the Management System. Service Quality: Support in maintaining service quality as an immediate priority across all operational product lines, continually seeking improvement opportunities. Facility Standard: infrastructure comply to quality policy and procedure – eg, ESD control in electronic lab, humidity control in cold storage area, illumination requirement at inspection and electronic lab.

 

FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:

Cross-Functional Relationships: Manage cross-functional relationships to support the effective use of the facilities' materials, equipment, workshop and inventory storage space. Strategy and Planning: Implement long-term strategies and planning for facility operations and maintenance to meet the operations team and customer expectations. Interface with Departments: Collaborate with engineers, project management, HR, logistics, customer service, and accounting on facility issues, process optimisation, and strategic projects. Documentation: With the support of concerned personnel, oversee, review, and authorise facility procedures, work instructions, forms, and other documents as applicable and measure and evaluate productivity. Productivity and Cost Reduction: Develop and implement productivity improvements, cost reduction, and inventory management strategies, maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring on-time shipment. Equipment and Facility Improvements: Increase operation efficiency by strategically implementing new facility equipment and procedures to support the safety and effectiveness of the operational teams. Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate repair and maintenance activities for facilities and buildings, ensuring equipment is tested/calibrated periodically to minimise operation interruptions and improve efficiency. Budget Planning: Assist in planning and review of facility budgets to help reduce waste and optimise facility expenditure on equipment and maintenance that improves the safety and quality of the facility. Emergency Response: Be on 24-hour call for all facility emergencies and security calls. Additional Duties: Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

QUALIFICATION

Experience & Education

REQUIRED

Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operational support role or similar position with a focus on safety, quality and maintenance in the heavy industry such as Oil and Gas, Mining, Construction, Manufacturing. Strong knowledge and exposure in health and safety standards of a base / facility. Forklift License (can be acquired during the recruitment process but must have strong experience in forklifting onset) Strong experience in working unsupervised and working across diversified teams and culture. 

 

PREFFERED

Minimum 5 years experience in Operations / Facilities Management & Safety Advisor Certificate IV in HSE Overhead Crane and Dogging Ticket Radiation Accreditation / Ticket Combined experience of working in HSE, Quality, Workshop / Facility / Base Experience in Warehousing (dispatching, receiving, loading, unloading etc)

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED

Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Should be able to work closely with all levels of personnel and outside contractors.

 

PREFFERED

Strong knowledge of Journey Management and Hazmat regulations and best practices. Prior experience with project planning and budget setting. Understanding of budgetary process and fiscal responsibility requirements

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Must be living or willing to live in Roma, QLD, (if residing outside QLD, WFD will support relocation to Roma) Work Schedule: Generally, Includes Standard Business Hours Work Atmosphere: Generally, includes an Office setting Work Type: Indoor / Outdoor Work Travel Time: 10-20%
