As part of this team, you will contribute to the development of flight-critical components and systems for VTOL electric aircraft. Responsibilities Work closely with Test Engineers and Equipment Design Engineers to provide support in assembling, maintaining, and operating in-house designed test rigs, stands and fixtures.Install industry-standard instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems, such as but not limited to foil strain gauges and accelerometers.Support Test Engineers with assembling e-boxes, contactors, and fuse assemblies with minimal supervision. Build wiring harness, soldering of electronics, and overall electrical craftsmanship.Build and maintain custom test jigs meant for testing battery module, battery pack, battery electronics and charge port.Support the Battery Test team during Environmental testing of Battery components.10% of the time supporting battery module cyclers.Setup, execute, and monitor validation and reliability tests at component and system level as per approved test plan.Aid in the development of technical work procedures and process documentation.Maintain a clean workspace and inventory of tools and equipment. Required Experiences with high voltage, high power, and high current.Knowledge of basic safety steps working around battery (risk prevention and mitigation).Experience with handling and operating near high power density cells, modules, and packs.Experience with operating battery modules or pack cyclers, such as Neware and Arbin, to perform acceptance tests.Experiences with thermocouples, current and voltage sensing.Knowledge of National Instruments hardware and LabView software.5 years of experience and relevant ASE Certification or equivalent experiencePositive attitude and willingness to work individually and as part of a team.Excellent problem-solving & continuous improvement skills, analytical, multi-tasking.Hands-on attitude, and detail-oriented work habits in testing environment.Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing drawing.Experience with component assembly and systems integration of electronics.Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of instrumentation and analytical tools, hand and power tools and HV equipment.H.S Diploma or GED or 5+ years equivalent industry work experience.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $44-$55/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
