*Business Development Manager – Europe* * Hamburg, Germany (hybrid)* * Summary: * * We are seeking an Associate Business Development Manager to join our fast-growing team in Europe. * The Associate Business Development Manager will work alongside and support the Business Development Managers in delivering the key goals for the region, working across internal teams such as supply chain, finance and marketing in addition to helping to manage external distributor relationships. * The key priority goal in the region is to achieve market financial goals which include but are not limited to: revenue in terms of net sales, gross profit, category/market share (where applicable) and operating income. This is achieved by developing and executing sales and trade marketing plans, working closely with Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain and ensuring effective coverage of sales territories and execution of agreed marketing strategies. The delivery of Western Europe’s topline is the key deliverable of the role, and within the Sales Team the role assists the Business Development Managers to control and manage sales expenses and ensuring an optimal supply chain platform for the markets. * The role requires working with the team to develop and implement an effective and coordinated trade marketing and sales plan in support of organizational and regional/ business unit strategies and other globally or regionally driven efforts. The role is also a customer facing role representing the corporation with recognized distributors, retail customers, relevant organizations, partners and suppliers within the market/s. * The role is responsible for the relationship and partnership with key distributor personnel for markets under his or her business unit. He or she must be abreast of current trade trends, market conditions and marketing, finance, supply chain and sales enablers through continued education and training. * The business development role is expected to leverage and grow partnerships with key customers both in modern and traditional trade for the markets under the business unit. He or she is the main liaison (along with BDM team) with the Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain regional or sub-regional support teams. * Major Duties/Responsibilities: * * Summary of major duties:* * MARKET STRATEGIES * Working with the Business Development Managers this person will * Help to define and grow the business through effective customer marketing and sales business plans, channel, category, and key customer strategies at trade level for the business unit. * Work to establish: “where to win” and “how to win” trade, customer, category, and shopper programs that deliver the outcomes required with clear marketing, sales and financial deliverables. * Work with customer marketing, field sales, and Supply Chain in delivering profitable growth for key customers (through the distributors). * Communicate and consistently monitor progress of the execution of the strategy with internal and external stakeholders. * Develop and execute joint business plans with distributor partners and identified key customers within markets. * In all called out areas below, the role will comply with or develop the right measurables at all levels to ensure delivery and visibility of progress (or the lack of it) in achieving business goals. * SALES AND CUSTOMER/TRADE MARKETING EXECUTION* * Works with Business Development team to manage the total trade spend budget for the Country. Helps to plan and monitor full year trade spend in line with yearly activity plan, monitor actuals vs budget on a monthly basis, and adjust year to go plan as needed in order to meet business objectives within agreed budget. * Implements the delivery of the sales and customer/trade marketing goals through the distributor by managing and monitoring well defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The KPIs reflect and show sales and customer/trade strategies being executed as planned across the market. * KPIs include but are not limited to: gross invoice sales, in-country sales, speed to shelf, distributor and trade inventory, meeting retail driver standards, proper execution of in store activation strategies (perfect strore blueprint execution, point of materials management, store dressing at category/segment level), channel strategy and plans (Effectively translating marketing plans into store format plans, identifying correct assortment, creating tailor made promotions), category strategy and plans (cross category promotion, cross merchandising initiaitves, building consistent platform of projects dedicated to key retailers). * The role helps to coordinate sales operational support systems internally in the areas of customer/trade marketing, consumer promotions, merchandising, sales analysis and sales administration. * Externally, the role works with Business Development Managers to be the main driver of the distributor relationship – the main driver of joint business performance. * FINANCE,SUPPLY CHAIN* * Supports Business Development team and Finance colleagues in the execution of a healthy P&L for the market which includes but is not limited to: total business, brands, channel and customer P&Ls as well as sales to expense. Manages the appropriate levels of control and audit processes within the sales organization and with the distributor partners and coordinates both reporting and funding requirements with key internal and external partners with the region or sub-region. * The role requires planning and executing an optimal supply chain (in-bound) for the markets in conjunction and partnership with internal stakeholders. Helps to ensure the delivery of the right stock, at the right time at the right price (out bound within the market). Works with supply chain partners to ensure product freshness at the market and trade level. * Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: * * Education: * He or she must demonstrate an understanding and awareness of current trade trends, market conditions and sales enablers, and seek to develop this further through continued education and training. Bachelor Degree qualification is a must. * Experience: * Minimum of 5 years work experience in CPG, ideally in sales (key account management, distributor management) or experience also in customer/trade marketing (in store activations, channel and cartegory strategy and plans, shopper insights). Demonstrated understanding of key functional tasks and a clear progression or expansion in terms of areas of responsibility or increase in business size and complexity.
