Work Location Springfield Campus Department School of Teaching, Learning & Developmental Sciences Hiring Range $12.30 Department/Employer Operating Hours 8-5 How many hours per week are required? 8-10 Description of Primary Duties  Are you passionate about empowering students to achieve academic success? Join our team as a Part-Time Academic Tutor for the Bear POWER program. This role focuses on assisting students with homework, studying for tests, and fostering their growth as independent learners. You’ll play a vital role in helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and thrive academically. Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions for students in the Bear POWER program. Assist with homework, test preparation, and understanding course materials across multiple subjects.  Encourage and build student self-esteem while showing respect to all students regardless of their knowledge level or coursework.  Promote active learning by guiding students to develop their own understanding of concepts, rather than providing answers.  Collaborate with other tutors, supervisors, and resources to address challenging questions or topics.  Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment while working independently or with minimal supervision.  Uphold the program’s philosophy of empowering students through encouragement and skill-building.
