Job Overview:

Coordinates bed management function. Promotes physician and patient satisfaction. Ensures accuracy of automated bed board and pre admit lists. Handles incoming phone calls in a timely and courteous manner. Performs all duties assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school graduateSuccessful completion of all orientation programs

Preferred:

Some college preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift- 11:00pm- 7:00amMonday-Friday with every other weekend/holidayFull Time/ Night

Essential Functions:

Completes a nightly census balance and a daily blocked bed report. Prepares unassigned admission summary at midnight for nursing supervisors.Expedites patient throughput in all areas, utilizing information from the units, SMS, and the automatic Bed Tracking System..Interacts with Nursing Units to arrange for bed assignments for Scheduled patients, Emergency Department admits, all Direct Admits and in-house transfers.Is proactive and appropriately assertive with patient units to ensure timely patient placement.Maintains a private room log to ensure proper billing and maintains private room patient requests.Maintains a professional, courteous and customer friendly approach at all times.Maintains an electronic record of all bed assignmentsMaintains an electronic record of bed assignments for Direct Admissions, Emergency Department, Transfers, Cath Lab and Post Operative patientsMaintains the confidentiality, security and integrity for the management of patient information according to hospital policies and procedures.Prepares surgical AMA list for next day s admissionsPreserves integrity of unit specialties when bed availability allowsResponds to patient s special needs in the context of other management priorities to meet the TAT goals for the dept.Takes reservations for future admissions and outside hospital transfers, adhering to the transfer policy.Updates the electronic bed board as discharges are identified through the system.
