Responsibilities

The Staffing & Bed Control Assistant is responsible for ensuring efficient staffing and patient placement across the hospital on a daily basis, adapting to changes in patient acuity and census. This role is essential for coordinating human resource functions, such as recording and communicating sick leave to appropriate department managers, maintaining schedule changes and gathering/reporting data relating to productive and nonproductive work hours. This position also coordinates the placement of hospital patients through maintenance of a current on line database of patients and their locations, and an availability status of beds throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

Staffing Coordination:
Administer daily staffing levels in line with patient acuity and census, working to optimize resources across departments. Accurately record and communicate sick leave and other absences to relevant department managers, maintain schedule changes, and gather data on both productive and non-productive work hours.

Bed Placement Management:
Oversee patient placement by maintaining a current, real-time database of patients, their locations, and bed availability status hospital-wide. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure timely and appropriate patient bed assignments based on care needs.

Data Maintenance and Reporting:
Generate and report staffing and bed availability data as needed for planning and management purposes, helping to support data-driven decision-making processes.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or GED required.

-Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, computer applications and organizational policies and procedures related to the admission process and staffing needs.

-Must have ability to prioritize work flow and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
