The Beer/Wine Manager will effectively lead the Beer/Wine department, train all Beer/Wine clerks about job operations and product knowledge, implement merchandising programs, create appealing displays, maintain high quality merchandise, and provide the best customer service in the industry. This person must work well with outside vendors to ensure proper ordering and product selection. The Manager must be able to create efficient department schedules on the company’s workforce management software that aligns with payroll budgets. Is an effective communicator and can develop organized plans alongside Store Management during peak times such as the holidays. Understands the importance of maintaining a clean sales floor and back room. Adheres to all Federal, State, and Local laws concerning the transportation, storage, and sales of Beer/Wine.
Starting pay: $22.51 per hour
Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Prior retail sales/ customer service experience.Successful experience in the beer and wine operation (i.e., merchandising, ordering, inventorying, and pricing). Complete training in the grocery or beer and wine operation.Must be Servsafe certified.Must be TIPS certified. Strong training skills that will develop future talent. Ability to display initiative and work with limited supervision, ability to prioritize work load, and must have sense of urgency.Ability to use and interpret data on company programs and applications relating to the Beer and Wine Operations (such as Category Analyzer and Periscope).Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.Ability to work a scheduled based on the business needs of the store location.Authorized to work within the U.S. ResponsibilitiesThe list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.
Provide an open door atmosphere conducive to high associate moral and excellent customer service. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by managing in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team orientated (RSTO). Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other full time associates to build a strong beer and wine team. Promote the company image as a service-orientated operation where every associate will greet, assist, render efficient service and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business-like manner. Must ensure all department associates receive proper review and training of job description, goals, and objectives. Ensure the department achieves standards of performance as outlined in the work and merchandising plan. Process good communication skills and the ability to conduct and facilitate department. Ensure fair and consistent treatment in administering discipline to promote high associate morale. Conduct weekly sales meeting with associates to establish merchandising, sales and profit objectives. Responsible for inventory, security and expense control of the department. Resolve customer complaints to the full satisfaction of the customer. Ensure the department is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community. Develop the best-trained beer and wine team in the industry. Train and develop associates in accordance with company policy and procedures. Manage Vendor ordering systems to maximize profitability by correct ordering and drop discounts. Order, receive, and unload deliveries, store, price date, rotate, and stock product and prepare product for display and sale. Keep all beer and wine products in display cases, coolers, rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first in first out. Effectively control proper storage, limiting shrink, and make sure that damaged goods are properly credited. Achieve and maintain departments merchandising goals and standards in cooperation with store manager, and department merchandiser/buyer, (such as gross profit, presentation, etc.)Staff and schedule to meet business needs and training of team members within budget and ensure all wage and hour policies and regulations are adhered to. Maintain accurate records. Respond timely to all location mail, reports and records. Have the ability and knowledge to answer product questions, and offer assistance in finding or suggesting product selection. Delegate and use initiative, ingenuity and good judgment to act on opportunities and solve problems. Ensure sales and work area are swept and orderly, dust wine on daily basis, make sure sales are free of safety hazards; report hazards to management.Ensure company standards of safety, proper handling practices, sanitation, and productivity is achieved. Practice “Cleaners Creed” and proper sanitation procedures. Make sure shelves and displays are blocked and straighten.Secondary Job Functions:
Verify price checks for customers as needed and ensure all product labels, signs and prices are aligned with product. Ensure department associates adhere to company dress code standards (i.e. name tags, personal hygiene etc.). Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.Assisting the front end with bagging at busy times.Properly dispose of trash.Successful completion of the onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire/entering the department.Other duties assigned by management.
