Job Summary
The ideal candidate for the Behavior Intervention Specialist position will work in our day program located in Staten Island that provides services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They will be responsible for oversight of all behavioral services including conducting the Functional Behavioral Analysis, development of Behavior Support Plans/Monitoring Plans to address challenging behaviors, and analyzing data collection.
The Behavior Intervention Specialist will be required to provide trainings to direct support professionals on behavior plans, appropriate interventions, and other topics related to behavior, mental health, and psychology. Implement SCIP-R interventions as necessary. Candidate must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and must possess excellent verbal and written skills.

Job Responsibilities
Conduct annual and semi-annual IDT reviews of individuals to report on their behavioral needs and progress. Develop and implement behavior support plans and intervention strategies for individuals in accordance with OPWDD regulations and in accordance with the agency's vision of positive behavioral supports and teaching alternative appropriate behaviors, which foster maximal behavioral independence. Train and monitor Direct Support Professionals in consistently implementing these behavior support plans and intervention strategies. Prepare and conduct training/in-services for individual and facility-related issues, behavior interventions, etc. Conduct regular observations of activities in the residence and provide written reports to the Residence Manager. Provide written reports to treating psychiatrists regarding behavioral progress. You will provide oversight of psychiatric medications, providing written reports to the treating psychiatrist. You will be responsible to provide training to direct support professionals on behavior plans, appropriate interventions, and other topics related to behavior, mental health, and psychology. Implement SCIP-R interventions as necessary.
