Key Essentials Job Functions:
Assist ABA teaching staff with modifications of the physical classroom environment to better serve their students
Provide support to classroom staff on behavior and classroom management
Provide large group and 1:1 hand on training to ABA classroom staff on ABA specific assessments, Discrete Trial Teaching, NET, data collection and other ABA procedures
Participate in the development of ABA programs for all students in classrooms and conduct monthly program reviews to ensure integrity and follow through and to make recommendations as needed
Participate in the development of student Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
Review and understand all Behavior Intervention Plans
Provide coaching to staff on how to implement the Behavior Intervention Plans as written, via modeling, verbal feedback, written feedback and additional training
Assist other Behavior Support Staff with conducting Behavior Intervention Plan integrity checks
Conduct observations on students to collect ABC data, frequency data, duration data, etc.
Create materials needed for classrooms (visual schedules, token boards, PECS icons, first-then cards, etc.)
Provide ongoing consultation with staff regarding student behavioral issues and individual programming
Respond to code whites (emergency behavior intervention) and immediately coach staff through behavioral crises. Provide follow up services as needed
Classroom coverage as needed in the event a teacher aide is out.
Attend IEP annual review meetings, parent/teacher meetings and team meetings as required
All Heartshare Employees will be required to learn and master the use of all software systems and technology utilized by the Agency, on a Program-by-Program basis.
Ability to demonstrate understanding and compliance with both CPSE regulations and Heartshare policy and procedure requirements
Demonstrate appropriate interactions between co-workers and students in accordance with CPSE regulations and HeartShare policies and procedures.
Coordinate with BCBA and other Behavior Support Staff, Supervisors and Director of Education to ensure a streamlined department
Must be able to read, write and comprehend all correspondence and memos.
Attendance/Punctuality is consistently at work and on time. Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
Conduct behavioral assessments (e.g., Functional Behavior Assessments) to understand the root causes of challenging behaviors.
Collect and analyze data related to student behaviors, including frequency, duration, and intensity.
Observe and document the student behaviors in various settings and contexts.
Collaborate with behavior support staff, BCBA, educators, or other professionals to develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Ensure BIPs are tailored to the student’s specific needs, taking into account their environment, triggers, and preferences.
Make recommendations for modifying BIPs as necessary based on ongoing data and observations.
Implement behavior intervention strategies to reduce disruptive or harmful behaviors and encourage positive behaviors.
Work with students both one-on-one and in group settings to practice new skills and reinforce appropriate behavior.
Use behavior management techniques to de-escalate situations when clients exhibit challenging behaviors.
Provide physical, emotional, and social support during interventions as needed.
Work closely with teachers, families, behavior support staff, and other team members to implement a consistent behavior support plan.
Share insights and strategies with the team to ensure everyone is aligned in the approach to behavior management.
Provide training for families and other staff on the implementation of behavior support strategies.
Help teaching staff to understand and apply behavior management techniques to support students in a consistent way across all environments.
Offer guidance and support to caregivers in managing difficult behaviors and reinforcing positive behavior at home or in the community.
Respond appropriately to behavioral crises by using de-escalation techniques and ensuring the safety of the individual and others.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, intervention strategies, and behavioral data.
Complete incident reports and other necessary paperwork following established protocols.
And any other responsibilities assigned to you by the SVP of Education, Director of Education, and Educational Coordinator.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear. Walk to and from various locations in the building. May need to stoop, bend, and sometimes lift or push wheelchairs of children being served. Physical intervention techniques may be required to aid the children in challenging moments. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus.
