Being a Behavior Support Specialist at Devereux PA Children's Services has its Advantages

 

You will work directly with our Brandywine students with frequent behaviors in a school setting that is located on our West Chester, PA campus.

 

Pay-rate: $22.50 - $25.65 (based upon experience)

 

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (52 week year round position)

 

Every day as a Behavior Support Specialist you will:

Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting. Carry out specific interventions that are developed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Transfer skills to individuals’ natural support in the least restrictive environment. Assist the Educational Administrator by deploying direct care staff strategically throughout the facility.Support teachers in managing student behaviorsServe as an exemplar to direct care staff and ensures efficient communication between the school, residential program, and/or school district representatives.

The Brandywine School located in West Chester, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Devereux’s approved private schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Registered Behavior Technician certification or RBT eligible; required.. Bachelor’s degree in a human service field preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred.
