Behavior Support Specialist - Full Time Bay Shore, NY Help Others to ASPIRE HIGHER! We are currently seeking a few exceptional people who have a passion to make a meaningful impact by facilitating the lives of the amazing people we support. The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to twenty-one in their pre-school and after-school programs. We currently have an opportunity for a Behavior Support Specialist to join our Bay Shore facility. In this role, you will assist in the implementation of positive behavioral interventions, supports and services utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Requirements + High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college and/or working towards certification as New York State C ertified B ehavior A nalyst A ssistant preferred + Three or more years’ experience providing services to children with Autism and/or developmental disabilities. + Experience assisting with the administration of Functional Behavioral Assessments preferred. + Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. + Bilingual preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Ability + Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, data collection, classroom management, communication, o rganization and planning skills, related to students with all types of special education needs. + Strong communication skills + A bility to work independently and collaboratively with other professionals + Must have the ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities. + Basic Microsoft Office skills required . Essential Functions + Implement discrete trial instruction and The Verbal Behavior Approach. + Collect data on skill acquisition programs and behavior intervention plans. + Implement prompts and prompt fading strategies. + Conduct preference assessments + Implement generalization and maintenance procedures. + Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification plans, functional behavior assessments, and educational programs , incorporate skill acquisition programs aligned with student IEP goals during ABA sessions. + Implement functional communication training procedures. + Participate in team meetings and parent-teacher conferences to provide relevant information regarding students’ progress or problems and contribute to the development of goals and objectives . + Attend staff meetings, team meetings, in-service trainings and conferences to improve knowledge of special education and related fields. + C ollaborate with academic and clinical staff to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for students with Autism. + Other d uties as assigned 35 hours per week Apply online at www.acld.org.
