Behavior Technician JobID: 13542 + Position Type: Student Support Services + Date Posted: 10/28/2024 + Location: Grant Wood Elementary School + Date Available: 2024-2025 School Year    Description: K-5 Behavior Technician FTE: 8 hours per day Position Category: Meet and Confer, Hourly Position, Table F Hourly Salary: $20.55 This position will end at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year in June. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: + Under direction of professional staff, work with students individually or in group settings + Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students with challenging behaviors, including modeling and coaching building level staff who work with the student + Support with monitoring of attendance / tardiness rates following District attendance policy and procedures + Works collaboratively with the building engagement specialist to communicate with families about student progress and ways to support their student both in school and the community + Maintain data and progress notes for students with behavioral needs + Collaborate on a team for determining effective strategies for students with Tier 3 plans + May include working one-to-one with student to complete assigned tasks + Other duties as assigned CLASSIFICATION: Non-Administrative Meet and Confer PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS: + Will complete non-violent crisis intervention training as a condition of employment + Understands and accepts the physical risk that may be associated with working with students with behavioral issues + Ability to work independently + Flexibility in working with building staff + Good oral and written communication skills + Willingness to assume responsibility + Enjoy working with young people + Ability to work well with others + Regular attendance + Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills, and dress Required Education Level: GED or High School Diploma ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform essential functions successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when assisting students outside of the classroom.
