JOB SUMMARY
The Behavioral Health Assistant serves as an initial contact for patients and customers, and provides professional support to clinicians in the behavioral health area. The Behavioral Health Assistant assesses needs of the patients or customers to determine appropriate disposition of requests within a time and sequence acceptable to the patient and customer’s needs and Clinic policy. The Behavioral Health Assistant must interact independently and appropriately with patients and clinicians according to Marshfield Clinic policies and/or department protocol, prioritize the work of several clinicians, multi-task and work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred/Optional: Graduate of a vocational technical Health Unit Coordinator Program, Medical Office Specialist, Medical Secretary program. Completion of a Medical Terminology course.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Two years’ experience in a medical setting, to include direct patient contact or customer service experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keyboard, computer, and telephone proficiency.
Preferred/Optional: Behavioral health experience.
