SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Emergency Department LSW/LPC provides services to patients with acute mental disorders, completes biopsychosocial assessments, addresses psychosocial needs of patients, coordinates discharge planning and in-house transfers, maintains interaction with family members and responsible parties regarding all aspects of patient care, acts as contact person for various outside organizations and referring agencies. 

24 hour position, 11pm-7:30am . Rotating weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Social Work or related Bachelors Degree.Ohio LSW or LPC.Masters Degree strongly preferred.LISW or LPCC preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience working in the behavioral health fieldPrior knowledge and experience with this service lineER/Crisis experience strongly preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Ability to complete detailed biopsychosocial assessmentsCreative problem solving and critical thinkingKnowledge of mental health disorders and interventionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with physicians, patients, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.Ability to organize and present information clearly and concisely.Excellent customer service skills.

 PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

3.         Is proactive in promoting resident rights and is available for problem solving related to patient concerns.

4.         Provides psychosocial counseling for patients and families regarding grief, socialization, anxiety, impaired coping, self-esteem issues, spiritual distress, altered thought processes, feelings of powerlessness and fear, non-compliant and maladaptive behaviors, mood disturbances and altered family processes.

5.         Coordinates planning and monitors resolution of patient's psychosocial problems and maladaptive behaviors.

6.         Maintains expert knowledge base of community resources.

7.         Performs other related duties as needed.

8.         Acts as a liaison between the patient, family, and staff of the facility for any concerns that may arise.
