During the 2020 pandemic, we also stepped forward as a regional leader in COVID care and testing. UH is comprised of three campuses:

UH Truman Medical Center is located in the Health Sciences District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Health Sciences District represents a robust academic community, leading the forefront of biomedical research and cutting edge technology. Partnered with UMKC and Children’s Mercy Hospital. University Health serves as the cornerstone in educating the next generation of healthcare practitioners. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we’re a leader in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, with world-class expertise in chronic disease management and women’s services, including high-risk maternity care. The Health Sciences District is also home to the University Health 1 and 2 buildings. UH 1 is UH’s beautiful specialty outpatient clinics and day-surgery center and UH 2 is the location for all of our primary care and women’s care clinics.

UH Lakewood Medical Center is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families.  UH Lakewood specializes in high-risk maternal and child care, and serves as one of the few Kansas City metro area institutions accredited by The Joint Commission in Orthopedics and Palliative Care. It also is home to a 188-bed, fully accredited long-term care center.

UH Behavioral Health is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The Crossroads Building, located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

Job Description

This position will be the primary group home manager for Cadence House Group Home, an IRTS (Intensive Residential Treatment Services) facility located at 8th and Tracy in Kansas City. Cadence House will be a 10-bed facility that serves adults with severe and persistent mental illness who have been involved in the legal system. The clients will have low level offenses and will have been deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) due to a serious mental illness. Normally, these clients, regardless of severity, would be sent to a locked state psychiatric hospital to restore their competence (i.e. get mental health treatment), however, those deemed by the state to be lower severity can come to Cadence House to receive their treatment on an outpatient basis.

Cadence House is not a locked facility. Clients will have a structured day and then be allowed to go into the community on their own. They are allowed to get jobs, see friends, and family, etc. Our goal is to provide symptom and medication stabilization, as well as, skill building to a help clients transition into a lower level of care, such as their own apartment.

This manager will supervise the Mental Health Techs that work at our group homes. These Mental Health Techs work day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. This manager will be expected to adjust their schedule by flexing time to provide support to your staff on varying shifts when needed.

This manager will oversee the completion of household duties such as ordering groceries and supplies, as well as, oversee and address the clinical needs and treatment planning of the residents of the group home. This manager will be trained in Recovery Orientated Cognitive Therapy (CT-R). Once trained, the manager will be expected to implement CT-R to fidelity with the Mental Health Techs working at Cadence House.

Cadence House is anticipated to open in November/December 2024, depending on hiring. Our goal is for this manager to assist with hiring the Mental Health Techs for Cadence House.

This manager will also fill in on shifts if no staff is available to cover. Thanks to our wonderful PRN staff this is very rare, but it can happen and the managers across all of the Residential program pitch in to help.
