Behavioral Health Spec III

Responsibilities

Serve as a member of the Behavioral Health team in support of the Texas Military Department. Providing service members comprehensive clinical screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, resource referral and connection, crisis intervention, risk/safety assessment, critical incident counseling, behavioral health profile initiation and tracking, behavioral health psychoeducation, FMR/SRP/RSRP support, Command guidance and recommendation.

Engages in routine contact with Service Members, their leadership, and treatment providers to ensure all behavioral health needs are met through careful and collaborative assessment.

Responsible for record-keeping; expected to maintain detailed records regarding their clients’ treatment plans and progress using a provided electronic health record.

Completes a thorough intake evaluation of each client’s mental and physical state and their needs upon presenting for treatment. In some cases, the Behavioral Health Specialist may also need to consult with the client’s military leadership during intake and while developing a treatment plan.

Provide ongoing clinical case management, outreach, and regularly make fitness for duty decisions in consultation with a team of licensed providers.

Perform in a remote setting with an anticipated 25% travel requirement within the State of Texas.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Master’s degree in social work.

Active Texas LCSW Certification.

Experience and direct contact with patients.

Strong working knowledge of human behavioral theory and application of theory to practice.

Excellent communication skills.

High level of professionalism.

Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Capable of simultaneously working in multiple computer applications (Microsoft Office, TEAMS, electronic health records, and others).

Ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations.

Rounded understanding of behavioral health conditions and treatments.

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result and obtain/maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Desired Qualifications:

Experience working with military personnel and/or in a military setting.

Familiarity with National Guard Bureau behavioral health policy and regulation.

Independent remote work environment.

Interdisciplinary experience working with leaders in large organizations.

Comfort presenting on topics of behavioral and mental health to large groups.

Knowledge of military and military family life culture.

Use of evidence based screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PCL-5, CSSRS, DAST-10, AUDIT-C).

Valid Driver’s License.

Pay & Benefits:

Salary $95,000/year.

Sign-on Bonus of $3,000 upon completion of 90 days.

Retention Bonus of $3,000 upon completion of 1 year.
