A behavioral health tech is a non-licensed worker who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, assists in providing a therapeutic environment for the patient. The Nurse Assistant may attend to the personal needs of selected patients, procuring and returning equipment, running errands and assisting in the general maintenance of the unit. After instruction and supervision, he/she may set up orthopedic equipment and prepare skin area for surgery, assist with selected procedures, and be able to aid in patient assessment.
