Behavioral Health Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Behavioral Health Technician operates as a backup to the Licensed Mental Health Clinician that goes out to an in-person MRT crisis call. Job Functions include those listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Works with individuals, families, and groups to provide outreach, and emotional support. Transport and clinicians responding to crisis calls in the community within the 60-minute required timeframe. Provide input in clinical team meetings. Provide follow up to individuals in the community as identified Engage individuals and families in the community to assist in de-escalating crisis. Assist therapists with consumer interventions and redirect consumers when behavior is inappropriate. Provides warm hand off to community resources, services, and supports. Assist dispatcher in triage of phone calls and provides community resource information as needed. Engages individuals and families in the crisis planning process using evidenced based practices including Motivational Interviewing and Mental Health First Aid. Assist the clinician in the development of safety or crisis care plan. Coordinates psychiatric face-to-face or telehealth appointments with psychiatrist within 48 hours of intervention. Provides after hours crisis services on a rotation schedule. Transports individuals to designated receiving facilities under a voluntary or involuntary status, if deemed safe to transport, if the individual does not have other transportation options available and agrees to be transported by the MRT. Interacts with management to gather and provide information. Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including E-Learning Courses, within required timeframes, and in accordance with the criteria established for this position.
