Today, we are a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1200+ staff and providing over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk. We are currently seeking a few exceptional people who have a passion to create a meaningful impact in the lives of the amazing people we support. 

In the Behavior Support Specialist role you will complete psychological assessments and make recommendations for people supported emphasizing and increasing adaptive skills in a residential or day habilitation setting.  

Specifically you will: 

  

  Perform functional behavior analysis with focus on addressing challenging behaviors    Design and implement behavioral support plans with emphasis on increasing appropriate behaviors   Participate in behavioral interventions, including the implementation of SCIP-R maneuvers when necessary  Develop and implement psychology training curriculum for staff on related topics 

We require: 

  

· Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology as it related to human development and clinical interventions and documented trainings in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or a National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or a New York State license in mental health counseling: 

· Minimum of five years of experience working directly with the I/DD population, including the development, implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans 

· In lieu of 5 years’ experience will consider candidates that have obtained OPWDD approved training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development 

· Complete required trainings in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention)and CPR  

· Clean, valid NYS driver’s license.
